Frequently asked questions

Is there a ready-made pet product list?

Partly. Products › Categories › Import prebuilt › Pet supplies gives you a full pet category tree (dog food, cat food, treats, litter, birds, fish, small animals and more). The Product Library's Mart catalog has a small Pet Care department you can import from.

Can I sell canned food by the can and by the case?

Yes. Make Can the main unit and add a sub-unit Case (24 cans). Sell or buy in either; stock is counted in cans.

Can I sell one dog food in 4 lb, 12 lb and 24 lb bags?

Yes. Make it a variable product with a Bag size option. Each size has its own barcode, price and stock.

Can I sell loose food or birdseed by weight?

Yes. Use a weight unit (lb or kg) with Allow decimal on, and type the weight as the quantity. A connected scale with barcode labels also works.

Can I book grooming appointments?

Yes, with the Services module. Add services like Bath & Brush or Full Groom per dog size, add your groomers with their hours and commission, and take appointments at the desk or online.

Can customers book grooming online?

Yes. Switch on online booking in Services › Settings and share the booking link. Customers in the SmartPOS Shopper app can book too.

Do you have memberships, like a monthly wash club?

There is no separate membership module for pet stores. Sell the membership as a service product each month, optionally as a recurring invoice, and give members a price group and reward points.

Can I record the pet's name, breed and coat condition?

Yes, with the Grooming appointment order option form (pet profile and grooming instructions). It can be saved on the customer for next time.

Does grooming need sales tax?

That depends on your country or state. Set a tax rate (or none) on the service products.

Can I run two stores?

Yes. Each store is a location with its own stock, groomers and appointments.
